To put it succinctly: it went well. We worked the Jim Jeffries show and Kevin showed me the layout of the place and the general setup/teardown procedures. Soon I'll be covering shifts for him on lights (they have a woefully simple lighting rig) and hopefully soon after that I'll be covering the monitor mix. There seems to be some politics involved with that, but we'll see what happens.
I worked with Kevin and Darren. Darren is the full-time sound engineer at the Troc, but he's also the Production Manager at the Union Transfer. He's a quiet guy and his face betrays his years; he's been in the business for a long time and has even mixed for the likes of The Killers. Well, at the end of the night he shook my hand and asked if I'd be interested in working at UT as well because he still had a few spots to fill. Would I ever!!. I guess I properly networked that night because I came out of it with two "steady" gigs at two venues in Philly. I really couldn't ask for anything more.
So that was my Saturday night. Well, the professional part; Matt and Tish had attended the Jim Jeffries show so Kevin and I we went out for drinks with them afterward. I got home at 4:30AM.
